2 Kp index
Quiet, No Geomagnetic Storm
PLANETARY K INDEX
No Aurora
7 ap index
Quiet, No Storm
NOT ACTIVE
No Radio Aurora
Guide
The three-hourly Kp index (0-9) provides a good indicator of viewing the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights: the higher the Kp index the greater the chance
of viewing. The K-index data is collected from ground-based magnetometers.

The ap index (0-400) is the equivalent three-hourly range: the amplitude on a linear scale.
Guide
The daily Ap index is the average of the eight ap indices in a UT day. High Kp, ap & Ap indices (as a result of strong solar activity) may indicate enhanced VHF radio communication (28-433 MHz) at a range of 1000 miles or more in mid- to high latitudes: the radio-aurora.
